Yann Durieux

A fourth-generation Burgundian winemaker from the Nuits-Saint-Georges area, Yann Durieux developed his craft through years of experience in some of Burgundy’s most respected vineyards. Most notably, he spent around a decade at Domaine Prieuré-Roch, working alongside Henri-Frédéric Roch and taking responsibility for important vineyard parcels including Clos de Bèze. In 2010, Durieux established his own domaine, Recrue des Sens, building on family vineyards in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and pursuing an independent vision centred on the character of each vineyard and vintage.
At Recrue des Sens, Durieux works with Burgundy varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté, farming according to organic and biodynamic principles and favouring a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. Red wines are made with whole bunches and spontaneous fermentation, with no chaptalisation or added sulphur reported by producer-supplied information. His wines have developed a strong following among Burgundy and natural-wine enthusiasts, prized for their distinctive personality, purity of fruit and energetic expression of terroir. From the relatively understated Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Yann Durieux has established Recrue des Sens as one of the distinctive names of contemporary, low-intervention Burgundy.
