Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of the benchmark estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a family history dating back to 1891 when Hippolyte Brunier first planted vines on the famed La Crau plateau. Today, the estate remains under the stewardship of the Brunier family, who continue to uphold a philosophy rooted in tradition, precision and respect for terroir.

The vineyards are located almost entirely on the La Crau plateau, one of the appellation’s most celebrated sites. Characterised by its distinctive galets roulés—large rounded stones that retain heat and promote optimal ripening—this terroir produces wines of structure, depth and remarkable ageing potential. The dry, windy conditions of the region, influenced by the Mistral, further contribute to vine health and concentration in the grapes.

Viticulture is carried out with a focus on sustainability and low intervention, with careful vineyard management to ensure balanced yields and optimal fruit quality. The estate works primarily with traditional Rhône varieties, led by Grenache, supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre and other permitted grapes of the appellation.

In the cellar, winemaking follows a classic approach. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with minimal intervention, followed by ageing in large oak foudres for extended periods. This method preserves the purity of fruit while allowing the wines to develop structure and complexity without excessive influence from new oak.
