Cavallotto

Cavallotto is a historic family estate based in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Barolo, where the family has owned and cultivated the celebrated Bricco Boschis estate since 1928. In 1946, the Cavallotto family became among the first growers in the area to vinify their entire estate production themselves, releasing their first Barolo under the Cavallotto name in 1948. Today, fourth-generation siblings Alfio, Giuseppe and Laura Cavallotto continue the family’s work, producing wines exclusively from estate-grown grapes and maintaining a close connection between vineyard, cellar and family tradition.
At the heart of the estate is Bricco Boschis, a distinctive Barolo cru where calcareous marl and sandy deposits meet, contributing both structure and aromatic complexity to the wines. Cavallotto follows a traditional approach to Barolo, using indigenous yeasts, extended maceration and long ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. The family was also an early pioneer of environmentally responsible viticulture, eliminating synthetic pesticides from Bricco Boschis after introducing natural predator insects in 1976 and developing sustainable vineyard practices over several decades. From the classic Barolo Bricco Boschis to the limited Riserva bottlings of Vigna San Giuseppe and Vignolo, Cavallotto is distinguished by its historic vineyards, traditional craftsmanship and wines renowned for their structure, complexity and long ageing potential.
